Under the 'Ratam Ekata' national campaign implemented by the government to combat dangerous drugs, the preliminary discussion for the establishment of "District Steering Committees" in the Kolonnawa Electoral Division in parallel with the National Steering Committee and District Steering Committee launched to control the drug menace was held on 2026.03.06 at the Kolonnawa Mangalapaya Function Hall under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Urban Development, Mr. Eranga Gunasekara.

Kolonnawa Divisional Secretary Mr. Priyanath Perera, Chairman of the Kolonnawa Urban Council Mr. Dhammika Wijemuni, Divisional Police OICs and officers of the Divisional Secretariat also participated in this.Kolonnawa Divisional Secretary Mr. Priyanath Perera, Chairman of the Kolonnawa Urban Council Mr. Dhammika Wijemuni, Divisional Police OICs and officers of the Divisional Secretariat also participated in this.At a time when the current government's pledge to eradicate this terrible drug scourge that has become a target for the country's children and youth is becoming a reality, the aim is to take a number of new steps to implement it through a faster, planned mechanism.It has been planned to establish these Regional Operational Councils covering 46 Grama Niladhari Divisions and 04 Police Areas located in the Kolonnawa Electoral Division.

Accordingly, it is hoped that the National Drug Control Program will be implemented extensively covering 20 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Wellampitiya Police Division, 14 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Mulleriyawa Police Division, 08 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Gothatuwa Police Division and 04 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Grandpass Police Division.

The "Deya Nanwana Sapiri Gamak" national program begins in Kolonnawa by bringing the concept of productivity to the village, right at home...!

The project inauguration of the Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat Division of the 'Deya Nanwana Sapiri Gamak' Community Productivity Model Village Project, which is being implemented islandwide in conjunction with the Clean Sri Lanka national program, was held on 16.03.2026 at the Kolonnawa Himbutana Sri Abhinavarama Viharaya under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Urban Development, Mr. Eranga Gunasekara, with the blessings of the Chief Incumbent of Himbutana Sri Abhinavarama Viharaya....!

The occasion was attended by many government officials including Kolonnawa Divisional Secretary Priyanath Perera, many public representatives representing the area including Kotikawatta - Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Dhanushka Priyadarshana, and a large group of residents of the area.....!

It is implemented as a long-term program to create change in society by understanding the problems...!
